AADRAI FOREST TRAIL

The dense forest trek (Aadrai Jungle trails)

Aadrai forest was an unkept secret from the world, Once a local villager went hunting and got lost in this forest and then this  place was discovered.
Lately, this place has become very popular because of the social media platform.

If you ask me to explain this place in one sentence, I will say this place is no more than a paradise.
As soon as you reach it you feel you are in a lap of nature, the chirping of the birds, the rains, the greenery surrounded by the place, the mighty waterfall, and the perfect climate make a perfect destination for all nature lovers, trekkers to explore this place.

How to reach here?
If you want to reach adrai on a budget, I would recommend you can catch a local train from Mumbai and get down at Kalyan station,
From Kalyan station, you can catch a local bus going towards Ahmednagar, get down at khubi phata, and start walking towards khireshawar village.

Another way to reach here is by coming here from Mumbai.
after reaching malshej ghat take left turns to khubhi phata then reach khireshawar.

From Mumbai I started an overnight journey, We reach the base village.
Early morning at  5:30 am, the morning view from the bus window was mesmerizing to watch, the waterfall and the chilled climate were the perfect ones to start this trek.

We get down from the bus got freshened up, had 'pohe'for the breakfast, sipped on a hot cup of tea, and started with the trek.

From the base village, we started for the trek the route was slippery and of course a lot of mud puddles which made it difficult to walk and it was raining heavily. While crossing the route we also had to walk and cross the river this was a fun experience.

After one hour of walk, we entered a dense forest, the forest was surrounded by big trees on both sides and we could also hear some birds chirping.

As I enter the dense forest I was amazed to see that the forest is ancient, looking at the massive roots on the ground,  and some wild plants around the route.
Since the forest is quite dense many people might get lost here so the local villagers have made some marks on the trail for example By hanging a small orange ribbon on the branches so it is easy for people to not get lost.

In some places where the road is divided into 2 sides, the Villagers have marked the trail by putting the branches on the right path.
While we were crossing through the dense forest we encountered a lot of small waterfalls on the trails.
Then we reach the trickiest part of the pathway which was the mud puddle through the narrow route.
Once this path got cleared we had to encounter a challenging path that is the most slippery part of the trek the way was narrow and my shoes got stuck for a minute after crossing the path, once you get through the part you witness the mighty waterfall of the trek ' Kalu waterfall '

Since it was raining heavily and everything was covered in fog couldn't capture the photo.
Then we reach a small plateau where there was zero visibility it was so difficult to find our group members because of the strong rains and wind that was which was pushing us.

Finally, after crossing the difficult roads, we reach our destination the waterfall we spend almost half an hour on the trek, clicking some photos, and enjoying the waterfall to ourselves.

Near the waterfall, there is only one small stall where you can have some corn, Maggi, and other snacks.

The route to return was the same exactly we crossed the route in a very quick way to reach the base village.
Now we were all tired because on the whole trek there was no place to sit and relax and there were no food stalls in between
After reaching the base village we freshen up and had the most scrumptious meal ever the food was simple yet delicious.
Simple Maharashtrian thali and after lunch en route back to Mumbai

While my trek got over I just wondered will I  get an opportunity to come back here?

Monsoon trek to Ganpati Gadad Trek

As the monsoon season starts ,A typical Mumbaikar wants to escape the city life for a peaceful weekend getaway, away from the throes of city life. For trekker’s the monsoon presents itself as a paradise and becomes a great opportunity to explore some of the best and most popular spots in Maharashtra.  One of these and my personal favourite is the Sahyadris in the Western Ghats region.  “It is said that trekking in the Sahyadris during the monsoons are moments for the heart and soul.” One of the most awaited treks in this region is to Ganpati Gadad, a well-known trekking spot that is also famous for its recreational activities like water fall rappelling.  Among the rare few scenic places that are located this close to Mumbai, Ganpati Gadad has become the favourite haunt for many wanderers who look to spend their time amidst nature. The caves over there are beautiful, especially during the rains with many small waterfalls that blanket the entrances to thes...
